Don’t Give Up

When everything right seems wrong

When troubles seem to be your unconditional ally

When nothing seems to work out

When friends just don’t understand

And no one seems to care

When you fall so hard that it hurts, stings to get up

When you push those you love away and wonder if you’ll ever get them back

When tears drown your pillow every night

When loneliness pays you unwelcome visits

And sadness beats in tandem with your heart

When the days become dark

The nights become cold

And all there is is an empty soul

Believe you can escape your plight

Even when relief is out of sight

Don’t you dare give up the fight

Don’t you dare

When fears become your shadow

When everything, everyone good is slipping away

When you no longer feel worthy

When you have lost your way

And forgotten your faith

When woes leave you perturbed, lost to the wind

When goodness is meagre and evil abounds

When you go through the motions of life, lifeless

When you render yourself incorrigible

And you just want to disappear into nothingness

When the days become dark

The nights become cold

And all there is is an empty soul

Believe you can escape your plight

Even when relief is out of sight

Don’t you dare give up the fight

I wrote this poem a few years back. I needed to hear these words in 2020. No matter what you're going through, please don't give up. Keep fighting.
